The 50mm lens is one of the flexible and useful lenses in any photographer’s gear bag. It is neither a wide-angle or telephoto lens, but allows the camera to see on the same scale as your eye. As such, it can be used for a variety of styles, from landscape and street photography to portrait and product photography. In this meetup, we’ll review the basic camera settings. Backlighting, Bokeh and Bursts
Sunday 27 July
Eastern Park Circuit - 9am - 2 Hours
Karen Wekwerth
We will be using various techniques to maximise the behaviour of the light. Backlighting is one of my favourites and can be used for portraiture or nature. Bokeh is Japanese for blur but is a term used for soft out of focus balls of light which can look very pleasing. Burst in this case is star burst which can be achieved when you have strong areas of light and a correct choice of aperture. Use all three to create some amazing compositions.
